Min of
Chemmis
by Phillupus
When fair-horned Isis of
the cow's crescent
was wont to descend to the Nile's banks,
it was you, Min of the Mountains,
who went with her in fierce protection
firing stones at the foul hippopotamus
that was raging Seth in murky depths.
Valiantly, you repelled the typhonic beast
with a spear like sunlight through storm.
When the danger was over and the lady
went safely back to her temple unhurt,
it was then, Father-Avenger, your beauty
sprouted forth from the lettuce leaves
and you rose above the waters,
O Priapus of the Nile, Perseus of Pharaohs.
You sought entry into her holy precincts
to be born from the mother source again.
